How to play Guess the country

Type any country. You will see how far the mystery country is and in which direction, plus whether it shares its region, size and language. The blurred flag sharpens as you go.

How a round works

  1. Type any country and pick it from the suggestions.
  2. The tiles compare your guess with the mystery country: green is a match, amber is close, arrows point toward the answer.
  3. The case file keeps score of everything you have proved. The picture sharpens after each guess.

The clues

Questions

How many countries can come up?
194 countries can be guessed, so rounds rarely repeat.
What do the colors mean?
Green means that detail matches the answer exactly. Amber means it is close: a shared value, the same continent or a number within 25%. Arrows point toward the answer — up means the answer is bigger or later.
What is the case file?
The panel next to the picture collects everything your guesses have proved about the mystery country: details you have matched, values you have ruled out and the range a number must be in.
What if I cannot spell the country?
Start typing and pick from the suggestions. They tolerate typos, so a misspelled country still turns up.
How many guesses do I get?
8. The picture of the answer gets sharper after each wrong guess.
Is Guezzle free?
Yes. Every game is free, with no account, no download and no limit on how many rounds you play.
Where are my stats saved?
Your streaks and scores stay in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to a server.
